About Kirk Hathaway: His MFA in Creative Writing/ Emphasis in Playwriting from SFSU,  Hathaway taught college English for 20 years before a career shift to professional diver and editor of online coastal explorer Cape Carolina.  As poet, playwright, and short story writer, he has seen many of works produced and published including a dramatic/choral collaboration with Grammy Winner Robert Page, publications in such online literary sites as Helium and recent publication of poetry in Circle Show: The Official Journal of Seven Circle Press.


Hathaway recently completed a post graduate Certificate in Technology and Communication at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  Currently, he is working on The Gateway Project™, a campaign to encourage the promotion of Craven County and New Bern, North Carolina as a primary route to access and enjoy the Coastal Regions of the state. 


Originally born in Rockford, Il, Hathaway began pursuing photography at age six after winning his first camera in a coloring contest for the Sunbeam Girl.  Seeking both photographs and stories, he has lived throughout the US and in England, Greece, and Austria.  He first resided in North Carolina in 1978 as a Blood Bank / Lab Technician for the US Navy and his four year tour in the state encouraged his permanent residence there starting in 2002.
